Akar begins with a simple idea: Malaysian batik can move naturally through work, evenings, ceremonies and the spaces between them.

The aim is not to make the wearer louder. It is to help him feel more entirely himself.

A first collection, taking shape.

The shirts begin with Malaysian-sourced materials and hand-stamped batik. As Akar develops, we will share more about each decision only when the detail is ready to be stated clearly.

French cuffs, an Italian-style collar and optional initials at the cuff bring structure and personal detail to each design.

French cuffs: A deliberate finish that gives the wrist quiet structure.
Italian-style collar: A more open line at the neck, considered for modern wear.
Optional cuff initials: A personal detail, placed where it belongs to the wearer.

Start small. Listen closely.

Akar's first batches are expected to be approximately 10 to 50 shirts. Keeping the beginning deliberate gives us room to hear what matters before deciding what comes next.
